Roots in Denton

What started as Cirque du Horror performances in 2009 became a full festival in 2011. Today the footprint spans E. Hickory and E. Oak—food, art, music, and traditions that belong to many autumn celebrations, not just one.

FAQs

Why “Day of the Dead” if the date isn’t Nov. 1–2?

The festival borrows threads from Día de Muertos, Halloween, and harvest season—like a winter lighting held before December, the weekend is timed for Denton’s community calendar.

What does admission cost?

Walking the festival is free; certain productions (for example Cirque du Horror) may sell tickets—check that event’s page when sales open.

When is it?

The public homepage announced October 24, 2026 as the anchor Saturday with a full weekend of programming (Friday through Sunday).

Who runs it?

A volunteer board plans year-round; 100+ volunteers work the weekend. For performer inquiries, contact deepearsmusic@gmail.com.
